The first permanent McDonald’s menu item to debut since 2021 is … drumroll, please … McCrispy Strips! What are McCrispy Strips, you ask? They are crispy chicken strips made from 100% white meat chicken, coated with golden-brown breading that has a bold, black-pepper flavor. They’re juicy, delicious and served piping hot!
“The demand for chicken strips has been remarkable to see across the industry, so we knew we had to deliver something so craveable that it was worth the wait,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s, in a press release. “We took our time, listened to our fans and created a product we knew they would crave. And the best part is we’re just getting started.”
What makes the McCrispy Strips so exciting?
McCrispy Strips are special all on their own, but this major menu change is extra special because it’s not just the chicken strips that are brand new. McDonald’s is also debuting a Creamy Chili Dip that perfectly complements the new chicken strips. The Creamy Chili Dip is savory, sweet and tangy, and once you try it, you’ll never want to eat your McCrispy Strips without it.
McCrispy Strips will be available in both 3-piece and 4-piece counts, and you’ll get your Creamy Chili Dip on the side. But, if you want to add even more flavor to your McCrispy Strips, you can also throw in any of the McDonald’s signature sauces you already know and love, like Tangy Barbecue, Spicy Buffalo and Creamy Ranch, among others.
How much do the McCrispy Strips cost?
McDonald’s prices vary from location to location (and regionally), as individual restaurants set their own prices. McDonald’s has not announced any official pricing, but it’s been reported that some locations will sell the 3-piece McCrispy Strips for $4.99 and the 4-piece McCrispy Strips for $5.99. Those prices include one and two sauces, respectively. The premium price suggests the McCrispy Strips are bound to be a premium menu item!
When will McCrispy Strips hit stores?
As is the case with most new menu items, McCrispy Strips will roll out slowly across McDonald’s locations, and you may even see them in some McDonald’s restaurants as early as today. If you don’t see McCrispy Strips at your nearest McDonald’s, don’t worry. They will be available at all participating McDonald’s locations nationwide by May 5.
You’ll be able to order them via the McDonald’s app, in restaurants, for McDelivery and at the drive-thru, so there are plenty of ways to get your hands on fresh, hot McCrispy Strips!

McDonald’s fans couldn’t wait to try the new McCrispy Strips, and many raced to social media to share their findings with other fast-food aficionados. One YouTuber who goes by the name Lukefoods reviewed the new chicken strips. “That meat is actually tender,” he said. “There’s not much meat, but it’s tender.” He also tried the new Creamy Chili Dip. “It kinda reminds me of a cheesy sriracha sauce,” he said. “It’s got a tiny bit of a kick to it.”
Other users were quick to comment and join in on the excitement. “Bro, I just got them, they are a must-have,” wrote one commenter, while another said, “Lots of sauce is crucial.”
